False Statement # 20 The general fallacy of Harris’ perspective on the role of Christian theology is addressed in the debunking of False Statement # 7 above. His statement that the creator of the universe “clearly expects us to keep slaves” is an attempt by Harris to replace “God’s will” with his own straw man version of “God’s will.” The reader can refer to Appendix 2 and see for himself or herself that while the Bible acknowledged the existence of slavery in both the Old Testament and the New Testament, to jump from acknowledging the existence of the institution to expectation of it as an obligation is about as big a jump as going from inanimate matter to life itself.
